Hey everyone, Paul here. As we approach the middle of the summer, I’ve been reflecting on my journey as a writer and the evolution of this space.
When I kicked off 2024, I set myself a challenge: to start writing weekly. I dove into topics close to my heart - leadership principles and tactics for tech teams. It’s been an incredible ride, and I’ve loved every moment of exploring these themes.
The thing about growth, though, is that it often takes us in unexpected directions. As the weeks rolled by and I settled into the rhythm of regular writing, I found my curiosity stretching beyond the boundaries I’d initially set for myself. I’ve been wrestling with ideas that don’t quite fit the “Tech Team Tactics” mould—like a post on Emergent Theory that’s been brewing in my drafts for weeks.
I now acknowledge that by limiting myself to a specific niche, I could miss out on sharing other valuable insights and sparking broader discussions. After all, great leadership and innovation in tech don’t exist in a vacuum - a wide range of experiences and ideas influences them.
So, I’ve made a decision. I’m expanding the scope of this publication. From now on, this space will be known as “Paul Clegg” - a platform where I can share my thoughts on not just tech leadership but also software development, industry trends, philosophy, life experiences, and, yes, even my culinary adventures.
Don’t worry - we’ll still dive deep into the world of tech teams and leadership, and I’ll keep everything available for free. But now, we’ll also explore how these topics intersect with broader aspects of life and thought. One week, we might dissect a new management framework; the next, we could be pondering the implications of a breakthrough in quantum computing or discussing how a concept from philosophy applies to software design.
This shift feels like a natural progression of my original goal. I set out to write regularly, and in doing so, I’ve discovered the joy of exploring ideas across a broader canvas. I’m excited about this new direction, and I hope you are, too.
Thank you to
all of you who’ve been with me on this journey so far. Your engagement and feedback have been invaluable. And to those who might be new to this space - welcome! I look forward to sharing this expanded world of ideas with all of you.
Here’s to curiosity, continuous learning, and the unexpected paths they lead us down. Catch you in the next post!
Paul
